Annual Report 2001/2002 Indiana University Librarians Promotion and Tenure Committee

Committee Members: Fran Brahmi, Chair-elect (2001-03), Kris Brancolini (2001-03), Margit Codispoti, Chair (2000-02), Yolanda Cooper-Birdine, ex officio, Larry Griffin (2001-03), Marilyn Irwin, Secretary (2000-02), Elizabeth Johnson (2001-03), Martha McCormick (2000-02), Andrea Singer (2001-03), Celestina Wroth (2001-02). Gail MacKay (2002-03) replaced Larry Griffin, who resigned.

The committee held its organizational meeting on September 12, 2001 in Bloomington. Fran Brahmi was elected vice-chair/chair-elect and Marilyn Irwin was elected secretary. Procedures for P&T week were reviewed, criteria for tenure and promotion were read and discussed, and cases were assigned to members.

The committee met from September 24-27 for P&T Week to consider two cases for tenure and promotion to Associate, two cases for promotion to Associate, and two cases for promotion to Librarian. Four mid-tenure reviews were conducted. The committee reconvened on October 25, 2001 in Bloomington to reconsider a case for which additional information had been submitted.

The committee met on April 2, 2002 to plan P&T Workshops and presentations for Librarians Day. We decided that the workshops needed to be done in person and that we would not use the power point presentations prepared by a previous committee, but would prepare our own materials. Two half-day workshops were held, in Kokomo on May 3rd and in Bloomington on May 5th. Ten people attended in Kokomo and over twenty people attended in Bloomington. We also presented Mid-tenure Review: What=s It All About? and Promotion to Full Rank: Why, When and How? at Librarians Day on May 17th.
