InULA's purpose as stated in our Constitution is to promote excellence in
library service and to provide opportunities for continuing education and
professional development. This is what we have done to meet our challenges
this year:
Supported librarians' individual research projects by awarding two
Research Incentive Fund Grants at a total
amount of $1,600.00.
Supported the professional development of all Indiana University
Libraries personnel by awarding two newly created
Professional Development
Grants at a total amount of $1,171.33. InULA has been able to support the
activities of regional campus librarians through this grant; both grant awards
went to regional campuses. All InULA members will have access to the report
on these grants, and in some cases a videotape of the program.
Provided a program for this year's theme "Exploring the Issues of
Academic Librarianship" at our Fall membership meeting.
Encouraged communication of members through updating our
InULA web pages and our listserv InULA-L.
For the future, we are efficiently planning our fundraiser, the
InULA booksale, and programs for later in the
year. We are also updating our Constitution and By-Laws.
InULA has done a fine job involving I.U. regional campus librarians in
membership on the Board and
InULA Committees, and
providing better opportunities for these librarians, which was a concern that
the membership often voiced to the Board over the years. The key to InULA
being a vigorous organization, in my mind, is the support that InULA provides
for its membership. I am proud of being President of InULA because I think it
does an exceptional job in this key area. Another exceptional characteristic
of InULA is its ability to be flexible in responding to the needs of its
members from year to year. I invite you to become involved as a
member, associate, or friend,
and let your voice be heard.

InULA President
