2007-2008 Communications Committee Annual Report

Communications Committee members for 2007-2008 were Vincci Kwong (Chair & InULA Board liaison), Suzanne Mudge, Emily Okada, Erika Dowell, Jian Liu and Maria Teresa Accardi.

Email is the major communication channel which this committee used for discussion of any business throughout the year.

InULA Notes:
Two issues of InULA Notes were published, the fall issue in December 2007 and the spring issue in June 2008. Erika and Emily were editors of the InULA Notes. This year, we invited all new librarians from different campuses to fill out a quick survey and we introduced them in the InULA Notes. Also, we sent out a call for article proposals for InULA Notes through InULA-L.

Suggestions for preparing future issue of InULA include:

  1. Gather information on newly hired librarians and contact them earlier, this will allows enough time for them to response to the quick survey. We aimed to introduce every new librarian if possible.
  2. Continue the practice of sending out call for article proposals for InULA Notes through InULA-L or other listserv.

InULA Listserv:
Emily is responsible for updating and maintaining the InULA listserv.

Website:

  1. Last year, the Committee worked on converting InULA's webpages using the new web template. However, some webpages were left out, this include older documents like past minutes and annual reports. This year, the Committee worked on converting the remaining documents to fit into the new template.
  2. Maintained and updated information on InULA website to ensure accuracy of information.
  3. Implemented a search box on InULA website. The search box is added as part of the web template and it appears on every webpage of InULA.
  4. Financial report from 1996-1998 and 2001-2008 is now available on the InULA website. Only two financial reports are missing, 1999-2000 and 2000-2001. It is suggested future treasure submit the financial report to both the president and the webmaster.
  5. It maybe a good idea to set a deadline and require all committee chairs to turn in annual report by then. This will ensure all annual report to be delivered on the InULA website in a timely manner.
  6. InULA website is migrated from the old server (veritas.ucs.indiana.edu) to a new server (webserve.iu.edu). The website works fine after the migration up till this moment. Please report any problem encountered to the webmaster when accessing the InULA website.
