Indiana University Bloomington is pleased to provide faculty members with academic regalia for Freshman Induction, Commencement and other robed ceremonies. There is no charge.
Information for Freshman Induction 2013 and an online order form for faculty caps and gowns will be posted several weeks before the cerremony, which is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, August 21, 2013.
What Your Cap and Gown Will Look Like
Faculty members who request rental apparel by the appropriate deadline will receive a black gown, a hood reflecting the faculty member’s highest degree and the institution from which he or she received it, an adjustable mortarboard, and the appropriate tassel.
Faculty members requesting rental apparel after the deadline will receive a black gown, an IU hood, an adjustable mortarboard, and a tassel.
In all cases, only black gowns and adjustable mortarboards are available. Faculty members who graduated from a college or university that uses colored gowns must contact that institution directly to inquire about renting or purchasing one.
Faculty members wishing to wear a tam instead of a mortarboard must purchase it. Please contact IU’s licensed apparel vendor, Herff Jones.
