Graduate Assistantship Position at the Pan Asia Institute

The Pan Asia Institute (PAI) is recruiting one (1) Graduate Assistant (GA) for the 2017-2018 academic year. This position includes general program assistance as well as organizing, promoting, and coordinating PAI events and exchanges.

The GA receives a stipend of $15,750 paid in ten installments during the academic year.  The GA is expected to work 20 hours per week.

CSME Outreach GA Position
The Center for the Study of the Middle East (CSME) promotes multi- and inter-disciplinary knowledge of the Middle East by supporting academic programs, scholarships, public outreach, and support for educators and students at all levels. CSME seeks an outreach graduate assistant (GA) for the 2017-2018 academic year to assist the Center in organizing events and expanding membership.

Hosung Shim is a PhD Candidate in Central Eurasian Studies.  This spring semester, he is conducting dissertation research in Beijing as part of the Sinor Inner Asian Studies Research Exchange program.  He agreed to write about his research and experience for the IAUNRC newsletter.


The Embassy of Mongolia is now accepting applications for the “EBI” Scholarship Program for International Young Mongolists.


The Indiana University Summer Language Workshop continues to accept applications for intensive study of Arabic, Azerbaijani, Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian (BCS), Chinese, Estonian, Haitian Creole, Hungarian, Japanese, Kurdish, Latvian, Lithuanian, Mongolian, Pashto (online), Persian, Russian, Turkish, and Ukrainian.


The proficiency-based Workshop curriculum features 20-25 contact hours weekly and a rich co-curricular program, including language tables, films, clubs, cooking demonstrations, and lectures with area studies specialists.
