Small Projects Istanbul runs a cultural center, a women’s co-op, and provides a variety of language classes and other services (childcare, school enrollment help, etc.) to the primarily Syrian refugee community in Istanbul. The program director is working on a new program to connect Syrians in Istanbul with Arabic language learning students in the United States to facilitate a language exchange over Skype in the hopes that it could become a source of much-needed income for the Syrians. They’re thinking to charge $20 and hour, and 100% of that would go directly to the Syrian beneficiary.

The Center for the Study of Global Change is pleased to announce the first meeting of our Graduate Student Study Group in Global Studies for the 2016-2017 academic year. IU CIBER is looking to hire 1 or 2 graduate students to write a piece on our October 3rd conference Business and Peace: Roles in Peace-Making, Peace-Building and Peace Keeping, and I would appreciate it if you could share this with your graduate students. MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY, Department of Religious Studies, anticipates an August 2017 opening for an assistant professor specializing in Islam, tenure eligible. Candidates are required to have the Ph.D. in Religious Studies or a related field completed by August 1, 2018, and must demonstrate successful experience in teaching and strong potential in research. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and M.A. courses in Islam and will regularly teach the department’s world religions survey course.
