IAUNRC Sponsors Acts at Lotus

This year at Lotus Festival, Bloomington’s annual international music festival, the IAUNRC is proud to be sponsoring three, folk-inspired acts from Finland and Estonia. Each artist will be playing at least twice within the festival and has been praised for their innovations on more traditional styles. Be sure to check them out at the following venues:

Baltic Crossing (http://www.lotusfest.org/artist/baltic-crossing/): A folk-dance band combining Scottish, Danish, and Finnish influences.

Thursday, Sept. 24: Buskirk-Chumley Theater, 7pm
Friday, Sept. 25: First United Methodist Church, 7–7:45pm and 8:30–9:15pm

Kardemimmit (http://www.lotusfest.org/artist/kardemimmit/): A Finnish band comprised of reki (a Finnish harmonic singing) vocalists and kardele (the Finnish national instrument) players.

Friday, Sept. 25: First Presbyterian Church, 9-10:15pm
Saturday, Sept. 26: First United Methodist Church, 7:15-8:30pm

Maarja Nuut (http://www.lotusfest.org/artist/maarja-nuut/): An Estonian solo artist who uses violin and vocal melodies to build soundscapes of her home in Virumaa, Estonia. 

Saturday, Sept. 26: First Christian Church, 9-10:15pm
Sunday, Sept. 27: Buskirk-Chumley Theater, 3-5pm
