Hungary lost three of its greats this year and the HCA will be holding a commemoration in their honor. The commemoration will be followed by a reception with refreshments and beverages.

November 10th, 2016 5:30 pm
IMU University Club, Faculty Room (IMU 250)

Event:
The world of Hungarian literature suffered three extremely severe blows this year: it lost two of its most important writers and an outstanding, widely acknowledged literary scholar. The latter, Mihály Szegedy-Maszák (1943–2016), was also an emeritus professor at IU, and the first part of the event will be dedicated to his memory. In the second part we commemorate Nobel laureate Imre Kertész (1929–2016), author of Faithlessness, as well as Péter Esterházy (1950–2016), internationally revered author of Celestial Harmonies, She Loves Me, The Helping Verbs of the Heart, Book of Hrabal, etc. The evening will be highlighted by music and excerpts from their works.
