Research Interests: I am interested in late-colonial and postcolonial urban history in anglophone Africa. In particular, I am interested in African experiences of life in the city and the ways in which Africans interacted with the state during and after the transition to independence. I also have interests in the history of Christianity, the role of Christianity in the economic life of Africans, and market women.

Research Interests: I study the periods between 19 BC and 700 AD. I examine the socio-economic and political impact Christianity had on late antique/early medieval society in southwest Europe, especially in Iberia and southern Gaul. I am also interested in the rural populations of Imperial Spain, their relationship with Roman authority and their socio-economic community. My research has brought me to the study of architecture and physical space and how these elements work within social constructs.
