Graduate Student Organization - IUPUI
The IUPUI GSO (Graduate Student Organization) is the graduate student government on the IUPUI campus. In 2008-09, the GSO focused on the following issues:
- The GSO held two events focused on socialization of graduate and professional students to IUPUI, their school, and the Indianapolis community.
- The focus of the Graduate Student Organization (GSO) this year has been to increase representation within GSO and on campus-wide committees.
- The GSO officers met regularly with the Vice-Chancellor of Student Life to discuss concerns, ideas and issues pertaining to the needs of graduate and professional students on campus.
- During the fall semester, the GSO spent much of their time on food issues and funding issues that were impacting student organizations.
- The GSO continues to provide funds to graduate and professional students to attend/present at national/international conferences, to defray the cost of consumable research supplies associated with their research, and outside training resulting in certification.
- This year over 180 students applied for competitive peer reviewed educational enhancement grants. The GSO awarded 70 students with educational enhancement grants totaling over $35,000.
- Finally, the GSO provided over $10,000 in funding to graduate and professional student organizations for the first time this year.
