Executive Committee (Ex Comm)
The GPSO Executive Committee is comprised of five elected officers, four appointed officers and two paid staff. Ex Comm members are responsible for the organization and smooth functioning of GPSO Representative (General Assembly) and Committee meetings, as well as other GPSO functions.
President
Nick Clark, Political Science
The President acts as the official liasion between IU's administration, student body, student organizations and the GPSO. The President also oversees the functioning of the GPSO, and serves on the GPSO Executive Committee.
Vice President
Jennifer Miller, Psychological & Brain Sciences
The Vice President represents the GPSO to the university at large and fulfills the duties of the President when s/he is temporarily unable to perform them. The Vice President also oversees delegates on university committees and GPSO standing and ad hoc committees.
Treasurer
Kenneth House, Business
The Treasurer keeps track of all expenditures and revenue for GPSO accounts. This involves working with GPSO accounts manager, Dr. Yolanda Treviño, the GPSO Excomm, the Social Committee, and the Research and Curriculum Committee.
Liaison
Jenna Morrison, Public and Environmental Affairs
The Liaison acts as a medium of communication between IUSA, BGSA, LGSA, ISA, other graduate student organizations and GPSO. The Liaison also serves as a member of the External Relations committee.
Parliamentarian
China Williams, Information Science
The Parliamentarian is the authority on procedural questions. This officer ensures that the constitution is up-to-date and also conducts the annual membership audit.
Awards Officer
Mike Cox, SPEA
The Awards Officer oversees the awarding of GPSO Travel and Research Grants. This involves working with GPSO accounts manager, Dr. Yolanda Treviño, the GPSO Excomm, and the Awards Committee.
Benefits Officer
Joseph Leenhouts-Martin, SPEA
The Benefits Officer addresses the benefit needs of Student Acadmic Appointees (SAA's) and student employees, specifically health insurance, stipends, fee remission structure and related employment issues. The position seeks to recommend improvements to benefit and compensation policies for all graduate and professional students.
Grants Officer
Anthony Cak, Environmental Science
The Grants Officer identifies and applies for sources of financial support for the GPSO and GPSO initiatives.
Sustainability Officer
Scott Nissen, Political Science
The Sustainability Officer addresses issues related to sustainability within the GPSO and campus communities. Examples of issues addressed are recycling, transportation, carbon emissions and sustainable growth.
GPSO Staff
Communications Coordinator
Angela Jones, Counseling Psychology
The Communications Coordinator facilitates committees, representatives, and student communication. The Communications Coordinator also resolves student concerns, prepares the assembly agenda, and ensures all are properly informed and organized.
Operations Coordinator
Peter Thoresen, Voice
The Operations Coordinator is responsible for community building. Working with the programming committee, the Operations Coordinator plans the parties, activities, and events that matter to graduate and professional students.
The GPSO General Assembly
The GPSO General Assembly is made up of representatives elected by each graduate department. At least one Department Rep is elected from each department. These representatives attend the General Assembly meetings and serve on committees. You do not have to be a representative to serve on a committee.
GPSO Ombudsperson
Assistant Dean of the University Graduate School & GPSO Ombudsperson
Dr. Yolanda Treviño
Dean Treviño serves as the contact person for graduate students and graduate programs. Her role is to support the GPSO by encouraging a creative environment for scholarship and research, teaching and learning.
