Minor in European Studies

Requirements for minor in European Studies

For students matriculating Summer 2014 or later

Students must complete 18 credit hours, including:

1.) Foundation Courses (6 credits): Two of four courses below:

  • WEUR W 301/POLS Y335 West European Politics
  • WEUR W405/POLS Y350 Politics of the European Union
  • WEUR W405/GEOG G428 Geography of Europe
  • WEUR W405/HIST B303 Issues in Modern European History

2.) Regional Focus (6 credits): Two courses with a regional focus on the same subregion of Europe, such as WEUR W405 and W406. One must be an approved S&H course and the other an approved A&H course

3.) Electives (6 credits): Two elective courses in European Studies

 

For students matriculating prior to Summer 2014:

Students must complete 15 credit hours, including:

1. Foundation Courses (6 credits): Two of the four courses below:

  • WEUR W301/POLS Y335 West European Politics
  • WEUR W405/POLS Y350 Politics of the European Union
  • WEUR W405/GEOG G428 Geography of Europe
  • WEUR W405/HIST B303 Issues in Modern European History

2. Regional Focus (6 credits): Two courses witha  regional focus on the same subregion of Europe, such as a WEUR W405 and W406. One must be an approved S&H course and the other an approved A&H course.

3. Capstone Course (3 credits): WEUR W475

Students must also complete six semesters or the equivalent of an approved European language. Language training courses do not count toward the 15 credit hour minor requirements above.
