Tor Einar Fagerland is chairperson of the Department of Historical Studies at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. Since 2012 he has been the leader of the research project, “July 22 and the Negotiation of Memory.” He has been an advisor for the Art Selection Committee responsible for choosing the national memorials commemorating the victims and survivors of the attacks, and he wrote part of the “Art Plan” for the international memorial competition.
Ambassadors and diplomats from Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Italy, the United Kingdom, and the United States are meeting at IU to discuss the cultural, geographical, and political heritage of the Great War as it relates to today's political affairs.
