Accessing the Music Server
We have a server available for students in this course, but only for storing
files relevant to the course. The server is not backed up, so you are
responsible for keeping backup copies of your work — for example, by
burning your server folder onto a CD-R or CD-RW.
(See Burning a Data CD.)
You will submit most of your course work on this server.
Here's how to access the Music Server from Mac OS X.
- Click on the blue Desktop background to take you to the Finder (the
program that lets you manage files).
- Choose Go > Connect to Server.
- Below Server Address, enter...
bl-mus-ives.ads.iu.edu
and click the Connect button.
- If you are logging in from a Mac that is not on the IU network, you will
then see another window, in which you enter your name and
password. Your name and password are the same
ones you use for IU email.
Click the Connect button.
- Select Students in the next window, and click OK.
(You may need to scroll the list to see "Students.")
- The Students network drive icon will appear on the Desktop.
Double-click it, and open the z361 folder to access the list
of student folders, and find your own.
Once you're done using the server, please disconnect from the server by
dragging its disk icon to the trash can (or right-click on the disk icon, and
choose Eject "Students").
