Digital Performer MIDI Recording Quick Reference
This is an outline of the MIDI real-time recording procedure for Digital
Performer. If you don't understand this, read the complete instructions first.
- On the Korg, set Local Control to
off. This setting is on the GLOBAL 2.1:MIDI
page.
- Set up the Korg for use with Digital Performer.
- Press the SEQ button to enter Sequencer Mode.
- Press F8 [Utility], and use the arrow keys to navigate to
the GM Initialize item.
- Press F8 [OK], then press it again to confirm.
- Check to see that the Bank Map is set to KORG.
(see complete instructions.)
- Choose the output device and
channel number for the track you want to record.
- Choose a patch from the DEFAULT PATCH column (not the PATCH column).
- For more tracks: Project > Add Track > MIDI Track.
Don't forget to choose the output device and channel number for each
new track.
- Set up the metronome and
count-off options.
- Set the tempo.
- Record-enable the track.
- Use the Control Panel buttons
to record and play your track. Press the Record button to begin
recording, and the Stop button to stop recording. Use the
Rewind and Play buttons to rewind to the beginning and
play what you recorded.
NOTE:
There are keyboard equivalents for all these button presses. You can
see these after choosing Setup > Commands. The most
important are the space bar to play and stop, the "3" key on the keypad
to start recording, and the "1" key on the keypad to rewind. Learn as
many keyboard equivalents as you can to make your work go faster.
