Overview
Enterprise Decision Support Services (EDSS) Team designs, develops and supports a consolidated environment for storage and facilitated retrieval of institutional data for reporting and analysis. Four basic services are delivered for Decision Support at Indiana University:
The Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) contains data from all major University enterprise systems. EDSS Team members partner with analysts and data specialists to design, develop and deliver database objects for operational reporting and data analysis.
Indiana University Information Environment (IUIE) is a web application designed for reporting and analysis of University data. The IUIE consists of catalogs offering publishing and access to reports and data in the production and test data warehouse environments. Additionally, the IUIE provides an interface for managing database security.
The Shared University Data Service (SUDS) is a common set of data sources for shared data elements. SUDS has two primary goals. One is to eliminate dependencies on physical data structures and replication in applications requiring access to other data sets. The other is to utilize Web Services and stored procedures to create a layer of abstraction between applications that share data and/or business logic.
Data Services for Departments and Instruction provides and supports shared, interrelated database and web environments used within Indiana University for instruction on database and web technologies. The Learning Technologies division of UITS is the service owner for the services delivered by EDSS and the Enterprise Web Tech Team.
