Hong Pu
Ph.D. Student in Language Education and Volunteer
Hong Pu is passionate about language education. As an EASC volunteer, she has taught Chinese to kindergarteners, shared Chinese culture at a middle school, and demonstrated calligraphy to college students. She plans to work as a teacher, researcher, and administrator at a teacher’s college when she returns to China, and her volunteer work has given her a unique opportunity to learn about the American education system while also sharing Chinese language and culture. “I really appreciate how EASC acts as a bridge connecting IU’s international students and the Bloomington community,” she says. “These experiences in the U.S. will undoubtedly have an influence on me as a language educator in China.”

Korean Program Fund
Gifts to this fund help us continue to build Indiana University’s Korean Studies program through support of our most important resource—our excellent students and faculty. From businesses to high schools to government agencies, knowledge about East Asia has never been in greater demand. Give to our outreach fund and you will be supporting activities that promote public awareness and enhance the teaching of East Asian cultures, societies, and languages. Our Japanese Pedagogy Workshops for K-16 Japanese teachers, among other programs, receives support from this fund.
