2010 NCTA Study Tour to China
(Tentative dates: June 12 - July 2, 2010)
Itinerary
Orientation Sessions
The main orientation for study tour participants will be held on the IU Bloomington campus (May 1-2, 2010). Participants will meet one another, develop personal and group goals for the trip, and begin delving into the culture and history of China with the tour leaders.
Activities will include:
- lectures on history and culture;
- development of group and personal trip goals;
- exchange of practical travel tips; and
- discussion of cultural dos and don’ts.
Participants are responsible for travel expenses to and from Bloomington, but food and lodging will be provided by EASC.
A second orientation session will be held in Chicago the day before the tour’s departure.
The Tour
The tour will include historical and cultural landmarks and educational sites in several cities in China. Highlights of the tour will include visits to some of these places:

Follow-up
In addition to the pre-tour orientation sessions, participants are required to attend a follow-up program in Bloomington (September 11-12, 2010) to reflect on the trip and share experiences, as well as update colleagues on how materials are being implemented in the classroom. Participants are responsible for travel expenses to and from Bloomington, but food and lodging will be provided by EASC.
Participants are also expected to submit a lesson plan in the format provided by the curriculum consultant that includes knowledge or materials acquired on the study tour. These lesson plans will be compiled and provided for each member of the study tour.
