- Program Abstract: This film is an adaption of an age-old Korean folk tale, which has been also popular in the form of pansori (Chunhyang-ga) or Korean performance art. Drawing heavily on Korean cultural heritage, the film retells the timeless story of Mongryoung, the priveleged son ofa governor and Chunhyang, the daughter of a former courtesan. Vetern Korean director Im Kwon taek has innovateively incroporated a modern-day pansori performance, which provides the voiceover narration for the film.
