- Program Abstract: VIDEO LETTER FROM JAPAN: MY DAY is one in a series of 25 minute videocassettes with teacher's manual and poster produced by The Asia Society and TDK designed to introduce Japan as seen through the eyes of typical Japanese sixth graders, to American students. The main purpose of MY DAY Video Letter is to provide American students and teachers with a general sense of what life in Japan is like. A background essay introduces the teacher to the Japanese home, family relationships, the neighborhood, and the school. Recommended readings, vocabulary, readings on woodblock prints, the bath, baseball, and activities on food (chopsticks), the writing system, and American and Japanese cities, are all designed to make students think about the differences and similarities between Japan and the United States.
