This goes against the grain with her husband, who always takes care not to offend anyone. Whenever Shuang-shuang kicks up a row with people, he is sure to make apology on her behald without even bothering to find out who is in the wrong. He is a man without principle. The couple lead a 'cat-and-dog life' which vividly brings out the new life in rural China, where peasant women like Li Shuang-shuang not only enjoy the support of the masses but also with their husbands' admiration.
