East Asian Box Lessons

Japan Boxes

Japan Boxes are collections of artifacts from everyday life in Japan that teachers can use to introduce students to Japanese language and culture. Through these cultural objects, students can see, feel, and experience Japanese culture. There are four different Japan Boxes, each with a separate teaching guide:

Each guide describes the items and suggests class activities.

We appreciate your comments and feedback on our Japan Boxes. When you return the boxes, please tell us how you used the items in your classroom and the outcome of your lessons. If you develop lesson plans based on the materials in the box and would like to share them with other teachers, please include them when you return the boxes so that we can make them a resource for other teachers.
