"Readings on Race" lecture/discussion series

One IU, a student group committed to fostering an honest public dialogue and civil discourse on the topics of race and culture, presents a series entitled "Readings on Race." The series offers four lectures featuring IU faculty- and student-led discussion panels.


  • Race, Crime, and the Making of Modern Urban America

  • Theolonius Monk Revisited
    by Professor David Baker and Keith McCutchen
    February 23, 2010, at NMBCC/Lee Norvelle Theatre and Drama Center Room A201 from 6:30-8:00pm
  • Moses and the Exodus: The Tale of Two People
    by Professors Judah Cohen and Sylvester Johnson, African American Choral Ensemble, Keith McCutchen, director.
    March 2, 2010, at Hillel Center from 6:30-8:00pm
  • The African Diaspora in the Americas: Dialogues in Race and Culture
    by Professors Carmen Tellez–Afro-Venezuelan/Afro Columbian, Javier F. León–Afro-Peruvian, Alfredo Minetti–Afro-Uruguayan and Afro-Brazilian, Michael Spiro–Afro-Cuban, Iris Rosa–Afro Cuban and United States
