Outstanding Young Alumni Award 2009

The College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Association 2009 Outstanding Young Alumni Award will be presented to Benjamin R. Londergan, BA'98 and Leigh London Redman, BA'00 by Dean Bennett I. Bertenthal at the Annual Recognition Banquet on Friday, November 6, 2009 in Bloomington.

Benjamin R. Londergan

Ben Londergan was an outstanding scholar-athlete at IU, a four-year varsity soccer player and a Wells Scholar, with a major in mathematics and minors in French and Economics as well as a LAMP certificate. Ben received the Jack D. Tichenor Award for earning the highest GPA among all male varsity athletes.

After graduation Ben went to work for Group One Trading as a trader trainee, doing mainly clerical work, but also learning how to trade. He worked in San Francisco, then Chicago, and then in Dublin, where he opened Group One’s European office. He returned to the US in 2003 to become Managing Director of the Chicago office and a year later the Co-CEO of Group One, a position he continues to hold. Ben is a member of the Board of Directors of Group One and also on the Board of Directors of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). Ben is married to IU alumnae Kari Hunt Londergan. Leigh London Redman

Leigh London Redman

Leigh London-Redman earned her BA in 2000 with majors in Theatre and Drama and English.  In the short time since she graduated from IU, her career has been nothing short of meteoric; she is currently the vice president of drama development for CBS/Paramount Network Television.

After earning her undergraduate degree, she made her way to Los  Angeles and , in the time-tested tradition of great success stories, started as a mail clerk at the Agency for the Performing Arts, a mid-size talent and literary agency.  was quickly promoted to be the assistant to the head of the Television Literary Department of the agency. She moved from her first position with the Agency for Performing Arts to CBS Productions in 2001, and a year later she became the manager of drama series for CBS. In 2003 she became the director of drama development.

Even while at IU, London-Redman’s talents were apparent. She was an active participant in the founding and development of University Players – a student-run theatre organization at IU dedicated to providing further opportunities in the areas of theatrical performance, production, management and educational outreach to undergraduate students of all majors and backgrounds.  In 2004, she married IU alumnus Tim Redman.
