The College of Arts & Sciences Alumni Association honored Mansukh C. Wani, Ph.D. as its 2003 Distinguished Alumni. The award was presented by Dean Kumble R. Subbaswamy at the College of Arts & Sciences Annual Recognition Banquet on Friday, October 17, 2003.

Professor Mansukh C. Wani, Ph.D.

Dr. Wani is a principal scientist at the Research Triangle Institute in North Carolina. He is co-discoverer of Taxol® and camptothecin™, two anti-cancer drugs considered standard in the treatment to fight ovarian, breast, lung and colon cancers. In 2000, Dr. Wani received one of the most prestigious awards for applied research in medicine, the Charles F. Kettering Prize, from the General Motors Cancer Research Foundation.
