WHERE IT'S SPOKEN:

  • Mainly in India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Fiji, Mauritius, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and Guyana

WHAT'S OFFERED AT IUB:

  • The Dhar India Studies Program offers 3 years of Hindi language instruction.
  • Beginning Hindi-Urdu is a combined class in which Hindi and Urdu undergraduate students are
    placed together along with graduate students.
  • Undergraduate students can fulfill the foreign language requirement by finishing two years of Hindi.
  • Aside from these courses, we offer an Independent Study (Readings in Hindi) for those who want
    to continue to improve their linguistic skills and to explore Hindi literature seriously.
  • We conduct the Hindi Proficiency test every semester for students who want to test out of their
    foreign language requirement on the Bloomington campus and  at IU's other satellite campuses.
