Position Description
Research Faculty
The Center for Evaluation & Education Policy (CEEP) at Indiana University seeks one to three research faculty to join its team of research and evaluation professionals. CEEP regularly promotes and supports rigorous program evaluation and education policy research, including more than 10 million in funded contracts and grants. Evaluation activities have occurred on the international, national, regional, and local levels, including large-scale statewide and national evaluations in the fields of education, health and community services, and technology. Clients include state departments of education, the U.S. Department of Education, the National Science Foundation, national and international foundations, nonprofit organizations, institutions of higher education and school districts.
Responsibilities: CEEP research faculty are responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of funded projects and may be involved in every phase of the process from research design and proposal preparation through execution of the planned evaluation activities. The successful candidate(s) will be able to maintain strong client relationships and provide high-quality, rigorous and meaningful evaluation findings to inform program and policy decisions. Typical responsibilities include instrument and protocol development, data collection, data analysis (quantitative and qualitative), report writing, and dissemination of findings in oral and written forms in a variety of media (e.g., reports, websites, conference presentations, policy briefs, journal publications); and for many projects providing evaluation technical assistance and evaluation capacity building for program staff and/or grantees. Project management responsibilities frequently involve the supervision of several project staff and students and coordination of efforts among support staff.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. or other terminal degree is highly desirable, with preference given to education and social science backgrounds. The Research Scientist rank requires a terminal degree. Experience and qualifications will determine precise rank and range of responsibilities. A minimum of 2-3 years experience in educational research, educational evaluation, and project managements is highly desirable; and preference will be given to candidates with prior experience evaluating science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education initiatives and/or special education programs. Knowledge and experience in qualitative and/or quantitative research methods, including the preparation and execution of data collection and analysis protocols and procedures; strong written and oral communication skills; and ability to work collaboratively and productively with others in a team environment are required.
