University Human Resource Services
Bloodborne Pathogens
General Requirements
If an employee can reasonably be expected to come into contact with blood or other-potentially-infectious-materials (OPIM) as a part of assigned work, the employee must be trained in proper work practices, what to do if exposed to blood, and other elements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. Employees are required to work with these materials in a safe manner that minimizes the risk of exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
Regulation
29 CFR 1910.1030

- If employees are expected to clean up blood or OPIM spills, provide appropriate training and supplies.
