This policy applies to Service Maintenance employees at South Bend.
A. Temporary work assignments and pay
- When a position is vacated for the regular incumbent's vacation, or for any partial pay period for other reasons, and the work of the position is performed by one or more other employees of the working unit, there shall be no adjustment of pay during such temporary incumbency.

When the work of a position, vacated for reasons other than annual vacation, is assigned and the majority of the essential duties of the position is performed by one employee for more than 40 hours in any one pay period, and the pay grade of such position is higher than the employee's normal position, a pay adjustment for the hours worked in the higher classification shall be made.
- The department identifying the temporary rate of pay should initiate the HRMS documentation.
