Time-sensitive enrollment
The importance of enrolling in certain benefit plans within 30 days cannot be overstated. As you get closer to selecting which benefits to elect, be sure to understand the time requirements spelled out below. Once you are ready to enroll, the online enrollment system will guide you through the process.
Enroll now or wait until next year
You have 30 days from your hire date to enroll yourself and your eligible dependents in the plans listed below.

Dependent documentation
If you are enrolling a dependent (spouse, same-sex domestic partner, or a child) who has never been covered under your IU-sponsored health plan, you must submit copies of supporting documentation.
Without documentation, dependent coverage will be canceled back to the initial date of coverage. Information regarding which dependents are eligible for coverage can be found online at hr.iu.edu/benefits/needknow.html.
After submitting your online benefit elections, information on which documents are required and where to submit them will be emailed to you. Note that same-sex domestic partners cannot be added through the online enrollment process. Contact University Human Resources at or 812-855-1286 for help enrolling a domestic partner.
