ePTO Project

Indiana University has begun the development of a system that will provide more effective processing of paid time off benefits (e.g., PTO, holidays, bonus holidays) for Professional PAE Staff employees. Initial project planning involves a review of existing system components–including PeopleSoft HR, IUIE, E-Docs, and department-based systems–to determine an effective and timely method of deploying a single application that will support the preliminary specifications listed below.

• Single institutional/enterprise system accessible via the Web
• Interface with PeopleSoft HR for such attributes as: covered employees, accrual rates, and accrued balances for PTO, PTO-sick bank, honorary vacation, and holidays
• Self-service access by Professional Staff employees and associated management to view accrued paid time off balances
• Recording the use of paid time off benefits, including monitoring annual limits on a daily or weekly basis
• Enable management approval and authentication of paid time off usage

A comprehensive project plan will be developed over the next month, with the deployment of ePTO during 2008/2009 fiscal year. This new ePTO system will apply to approximately 5,000 Professional PAE Staff employees across the university.
