Compensation System Initiative for Professional Staff Jobs The University plans to roll out the new compensation program for Professional Staff during the Fall. The program is the result of a full review of the Professional Staff compensation system components, including methodology for job classification and guidelines to assist managers in making salary decisions. With the help of schools and departments, more than 5,500 Professional Staff positions have been classified into broad levels and salary ranges. Jobs are organized based on job family and level of work. Each job family correlates with a discipline, occupational category, or functional area that defines the type of work. The level of the work is based on complexity, scope of impact, autonomy, and knowledge required. Salary ranges are designed to be competitive with the labor market for the respective job family and level. Professional Staff will receive a personalized statement that provides the job family and level for his/her position in late August. Foremost, this new compensation system is intended to provide department heads with objective, market-based information for their salary decisions. Visit www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/salary/comp/ for the latest information, including job families, level guides, salary structures and ranges. New policy Indiana University has a responsibility to conduct its affairs ethically and in compliance with the law and university policy. Likewise, the university has a responsibility to protect those who make a good faith effort to “blow the whistle” on suspected wrongful conduct. IU employees already enjoy whistleblower protection under Indiana Code 20-12-1-8. The new Whistleblower Policy approved by the university’s president on April 16, 2007, encourages an atmosphere that allows employees to meet their obligations to disclose violations of law and serious breaches of conduct without adverse academic or employment action. The Whistleblower Policy also lists existing policies and procedures to refer to when making disclosures and who to contact when disclosing wrongful conduct or seeking relief from retaliatory action. Wrongful Conduct is:
A Good Faith Report is an allegation made by an individual who believes that Wrongful Conduct may have occurred. However, an allegation is not in Good Faith if it is made with reckless disregard for or willful ignorance of facts that would disprove the allegation. A participant does not need to experience a life-altering event to make this change. A participant may change the beneficiary at any time. Employees receiving a salary increase may want to use self service to increase their contribution levels for the IU TDA Plan and/or the IU Retirement Savings Plan. To access Benefits Self Service
