IU Fee Courtesy Plan
The IU Employee Fee Courtesy Plan provides an opportunity for full-time, Academic and Staff employees, their spouses and dependent children to receive a tuition subsidy when enrolled in classes at Indiana University. Former employees with IU Retiree status, their dependents, and, in some cases, disabled former employees, are also eligible for this benefit. Registered domestic partners receive the same benefit as a spouse.
The value of the Fee Courtesy benefit varies.
-
Dependent child: 50 percent of Indiana resident undergraduate rate, up to the first bachelor’s degree or a maximum of 140 credit hours, whichever comes first.
-
Spouse/Domestic Partner: covered tuition paid at 100 percent up to a dollar limit* per semester based on the Indiana resident undergraduate tuition rate.
-
Employee/Retiree: covered tuition paid at 100 percent up to a dollar limit* per semester based on the Indiana resident tuition rate, as appropriate to the employee’s degree program.
* Dollar limits vary based on tuition rates at each campus, and increase from year to year based on tuition rates approved by the Board of Trustees. Dollar limits for the 2006/2007 academic year can be found at the fee courtesy Web site. Covered tuition does not include special fees such as those for laboratories, applied music, student teaching, dissertation research fees, facility fees, etc.
Application process. An IU Fee Courtesy Plan enrollment form is required each academic year. The form for fall 2006 through summer 2007 enrollment and additional information is available on the University Human Resource Services Web site www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/benefits/fee_courtesy.html. As with other IU benefit plans, documentation of a spouse or dependent child’s relationship is required upon initial enrollment in benefit plans, and verification of eligibility may be required periodically.
