Performance Management Online
A new resource for IU supervisors, A Guide to Performance Management, is now online at the University Human Resource Services Web site www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/training/performance_management/index.htm.
This guide is designed to help supervisors develop performance management procedures for staff and hourly employees in their units. It can be used as a primer or as a refresher on performance management principles and elements to include in a performance management plan. Emphasis is on the supervisor’s responsibilities in the performance management cycle:
- Determine major job duties
- Define performance standards for each duty
- Document job performance
- Evaluate job performance
- Hold performance discussions
Examples are included at each step and sample forms are available for consideration.
Some campuses have a specific process in place for performance management and this should be followed. Check with a campus Human Resources office.
Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA)
All of the university’s employee medical plans comply with WHCRA. These plans cover the following services related to a mastectomy patient:
- Reconstruction of the breast on which the mastectomy has been performed
- Surgery and reconstruction of the other breast to provide a symmetrical appearance
- Prosthesis and physical complications related to all stages of mastectomy, including lymphedemas
Refer to respective medical plan documents for any preferred provider and utilization management requirements.
