Anthem Issues New ID Cards
The University Human Resource Services office recently arranged for Anthem to issue new ID cards that do NOT include Social Security Numbers. This new ID card includes an Anthem-generated ID consisting of a unique set of alpha/numeric characters for each plan member.
Employees enrolled in the following medical plans should have received new ID cards in late-July 2005: IU PPO $900 Deductible plan, IU PPO-Plus plan, Blue Preferred Primary POS plan. Anthem will also discontinue using Social Security Numbers on the member’s Explanation of Benefits (EOB) and other medical plan documents distributed by mail.
While the old ID cards will remain valid for the near future, to take advantage of this new privacy feature the old ID cards should be destroyed. Employees are also advised to provide physicians, clinics, hospitals, etc. with their new medical plan ID and ask them to purge the old ID with Social Security Number.
This completes the University’s initiative to remove Social Security Numbers from all medical and dental plan ID cards.
Compensation System Initiative
In order to install a fair and rational compensation system for all Professional Staff jobs across the university, a Compensation System Initiative (CSI) project is currently underway by University Human Resource Services. Visit www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/csi/index.html for details. |
