IU-sponsored Student Medical Insurance Plans Academic Year 2005/2006
Indiana University sponsors three medical insurance plans for its students. All three of these medical plans are underwritten by Aetna and administered by The Chickering Group.

Undergraduate and Graduate Voluntary Plan. Undergraduate students registered for at least 6 hours and graduate students registered for at least 3 hours are eligible to enroll in this plan. Students have until September 15 to elect enrollment in this medical plan for the academic year.

Student Academic Appointee/Fellowship Recipient/International Student Plan. This plan is mandatory for the groups listed below.

Student Academic Appointees who are appointed with .375 FTE or above for the corresponding semester and who enroll in six credit hours or G901 each semester during appointment (summer excluded)

Fellowship Recipients with a stipend of $2,928 or more per semester who are enrolled full time as defined by their school, but no less than 8 credit hours per semester

International students who are taking credit hours, unless they provide proof of comparable coverage

School of Medicine Student Plan. Enrollment is mandatory for all students of IU School of Medicine and for Post-Doctoral Fellows, unless proof of coverage through a parent or spouse is presented, and a waiver is filed by the waiver deadline.
Certain dependents are eligible to participate in each of the above medical plans.
