Eligible Individuals
The following individuals are eligible for the IU Fee Courtesy benefit: full-time appointed Academic and Staff employees; individuals with IU Retiree status; disabled former employees receiving long-term disability benefits; the spouse and the dependent children of a deceased employee who was eligible at the time of death. A spouse, registered domestic partner, or dependent child(ren) of an active eligible employee may receive the tuition subsidy through the employee’s successful application for Fee Courtesy.
Benefit Plan Provisions
The Fee Courtesy benefit plan is completely funded by Indiana University. Benefit provisions are as follows:
- For a dependent child: 50 percent of the Indiana resident undergraduate rate up to a maximum of 140 subsidized hours or the completion of the first baccalaureate degree,
- For employees, Retirees, spouses and registered domestic partners: 100 percent of covered tuition up to a dollar limit per semester based on the Indiana resident per credit hour rates at each campus.
Dollar limits vary based on tuition rates at each campus. Semester amounts for 2005-2006 are at www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/benefits/fee-ratetable05-06.htm.
Enrollment
Enrollment forms for Fee Courtesy cover one academic year, beginning with the fall semester. Completion of a new Fee Courtesy plan enrollment form is required each academic year. Completed forms should be submitted to the campus of enrollment, which may be different from the campus of employment. In order to avoid being billed for the full tuition amount, employees are encouraged to submit this form for the academic year as soon as possible. Forms are at www.indiana.edu/~uhrs/benefits/feeforms.html.
