Benefits Change Connection
Making Changes to the IU Retirement Plan Account
The IU Retirement Plan is a self-directed plan. This means that the participant is responsible for overseeing his or her account and directing its investment allocation and beneficiary information.
Change the Current Investment Allocation
To change the investment choices of your account, you can log on to your account online or contact the investment company directly: TIAA-CREF or Fidelity Investments. See their contact information below.
Direct Future Contributions to a Different Investment Company
- Access and change your Investment Company election at the Employee Center area of OneStart.
- Establish (or have previously established) a plan account at the new investment company by going to the company's Web site and opening an account online.
Note: If you have a current account at the new investment company for the IU Retirement Plan (i.e., an account that has received contributions within the last 12 months), you do not have to open a new account online.
Transfer Accumulations from One Investment Company to Another
- Establish (or have previously established) a plan account at the new investment company by going to the company's Web site and enrolling online.
- Contact the new Investment Company directly and ask to transfer your accumulations from the old company. They will provide you with the necessary paperwork.
Note: If you have a current account at the new investment company for the IU Retirement Plan (i.e., an account that has received contributions within the last 12 months), you do not have to open a new account online.
Change the Beneficiary Listed on the Account
- Log on to your TIAA-CREF or Fidelity account and change your beneficiary online.
