 Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis was recognized with the Senator Paul Simon Award for Comprehensive Internationalization by NAFSA: Association for International Educators.
 The IU Bloomington campus ranked 8th in the nation among more than 2000 institutions in the U.S. with 2,190 students studying abroad in 2009-10. It ranked 6th nationally for the number of students undertaking semester-long study abroad.
 The number of international students on the Bloomington campus increased almost 13% to 5,680 students. IUB ranks 11th nationally for its international student presence.
 Indiana University international students contribute more than half a billion dollars to the Indiana economy. Three quarters of IUB students fund their education primarily with personal and family funds.

With new partnerships with universities in Germany, India, and Mongolia, IU has increased its global connections to 45 primary agreements for mutual research, development, and exchange around the world.
