Welcome

Indiana University recognizes the accomplishments of outstanding faculty in a number of ways throughout the year, especially at Founders Day celebrations in the spring, which mark the institution's anniversary.

Distinguished Professorships

The most prestigious academic appointment Indiana University can offer is a distinguished professorship. Nominations may be made by faculty, alumni, and students, among others. The rank of distinguished professor honors outstanding scholarship, artistic or literary distinction, or other achievements that have won signficant recognition by peers.

For a current list of Distinguished and Titled Professors please visit the Indiana University Alliance of Distinguished and Titled Professors.

All University Distinguished Teaching Awards

Indiana University is also pleased to bestow awards for distinguished teaching and service upon faculty who considered to be shining examples of dedication and excellence. Recipients are selected from more than 4,000 faculty members on all eight campuses.

Thomas Ehrlich Award for Excellence in Service Learning

IU recognizes excellence in service learning with the Thomas Ehrlich Award for Service Learning, which is also given at Founders Day. The recipient becomes Indiana University's nominee for the national Campus Compact Thomas Ehrlich Award for Service Learning the following year.
