Lake and watershed management professionals from around the world will meet in Union Station, in Indianapolis, on Nov. 8-10 for the 26th Annual International Symposium of the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS). Bill Jones, who is chairing this year's program, is a professor at (SPEA). The theme of the conference is "Making Connections—Land, Water, People." The Opening Plenary will feature talks by Todd Thompson of the Indiana Geological Survey, a research institute at Indiana University, who will discuss the geological history of the changing Great Lakes' shorelines.

The Pew Center on Global Climate Change released a report today on the potential role of U.S. forests and farms in mitigating global warming, Agricultural and Forestlands: U.S. Carbon Policy Strategies. Ken Richards, an associate professor at the School of Public and Environmental Affairs, is co-author of the report.

On Thursday, Sept. 21, Ken Richards, an associate professor in Indiana University's School of Public and Environmental Affairs, will speak on U.S. carbon policy as part of a Pew Center report on the role of agriculture and forest land in mitigating climate change. 08/22/2006 Social Entrepreneurship Certificate offered through SPEA and Kelley
Indiana University announced a new graduate certificate program in Social Entrepreneurship, combining classes in the School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the Kelley School of Business to form a curriculum focused on applying entrepreneurial practices to public needs in the nonprofit, for-profit and governmental sectors. Students will begin classes for the certificate next week.
