Announcements

Joe Pellicciotti, IUN, had his 400th “Consumer Affairs” column published in November in the Northwest Indiana Times newspaper. The column appears weekly on Saturdays in the Business section of the newspaper.

Phil Rutledge (Emeritus IUB, IUPUI, IUN) has been named one of the initial recipients of the George Graham Award for Excellence in Service to the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA). George Graham (deceased) was the founding President of NAPA. The other recipients are James Webb, deceased former NASA Administrator and principal founder of NAPA, and Elmer Staats, former Comptroller General of the U.S. General Accountability Office, a founder and principal benefactor of NAPA. Webb and Staats were founding members and former Presidents of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). Rutledge is also a past President of ASPA and founding Chair of NAPA’s Standing Panel on Social Equity in Governance and NAPA’s Africa Working Group.

Lois R. Wise, IUB, will collaborate with two colleagues from University of Stockholm (Mark Graham and Maritta Soininen) to conduct a study of integration policy in state government authorities in Sweden ("Statliga myndigheter: Att integrera integration"). The researchers recently received a grant in the amount or 2.5 million Swedish crowns (about $372,000) from the Swedish Council for Working Life Research. The funds will support compilation of four case studies of state agency practices and policies followed by a survey of about 50 state agencies. Mark Graham of University of Stockholm is the PI.

Stephen Ziegler, IPFW, recently served as an advisory board member for a major pharmaceutical company on the law and ethics of pain management in McLean, Virginia. He was also profiled as an inaugural member of IPFW's Featured Faculty.
