Chris Craft, IUB, presented the seminar, “Forecasting the Effects of Climate Change on Tidal Marshes of the Southeast US Coast Using Ecosystem Science, GIS and Simulation Modeling” to the Marine Science Program at the University of South Carolina, Columbia on December 7.
Burney Fischer, IUB, presented the final results of the Bloomington Street Tree Inventory to the Bloomington Parks and Recreation Board of Directors and Tree Commission on Tuesday, December 11. Also, the final report, The 2007 Bloomington Street Tree Report: An Analysis of Demographics and Ecosystem Services, was submitted to the city and will be posted on City of Bloomington Web site shortly. This project was funded by a grant from the City of Bloomington for Urban Forestry Internships. A second urban forestry internships grant is being discussed for 2008 to expand upon the inventory.
Les Lenkowsky, IUB and IUPUI, was invited to and will participate in a lunchtime panel discussion for the Hudson Institute’s Bradley Center for Philanthropy and Civic Renewal and the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy on Friday, December 14th. The panel discussion title is “Choice Grants: Foundations and the School Choice Movement.”
Jim Perry, IUB, was the inaugural speaker on November 16 for the Government Accountability Office (GAO) Strategic Issues series on Transforming the Federal Workforce. His presentation was entitled “Radically Rethinking How We Motivate Public Servants.” He also participated on a panel, “Motivating Public Employees: The Perception of Organizational Fairness,” at the National Academy of Public Administration conference. His presentation was “Motivating Public Employees: The Intersection of Fairness and Public Service Motivation.”
Rafael Reuveny, IUB, was interviewed by WTRC News Radio: Morning News, Elkhart, Indiana on October 16th on “Al Gore’s Nobel Prize Highlights Link Between Conflict and Climate Change.”
