Announcements


During the Thanksgiving break, Professor Randall Baker, IUB, was invited to become a governor of the Balkanika Private School in Sofia. This is the first regional private school teaching in Greek, Turkish, and Bulgarian, as well as English. This was a result of his work on developing Bulgaria as a bridge between the EU and Central Asia.

The Center for Urban Policy and the Environment announced that it has been awarded a $320,000 grant from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) for a one-year study of traffic safety in Indiana. The grant will support analysis of data about motor vehicle accidents in the state of Indiana to identify traffic safety problems, recommend and design effective policies, and help the state apply for federal funds from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

Les Lenkowsky, IUPUI and IUB, was a panelist for the Aspen Institute’s doctoral dissertation presentations, held at the ARNOVA meeting in Chicago on November 15-16. On November 14, he participated in a Board meeting of the Sagamore Institute in Indianapolis.

Sheila Suess Kennedy, IUPUI, was on a panel titled "Feminism: Forward Not Back" at the November 9th "Women in the Law Conference" in Indianapolis.
