Following his speech to the Fulbright Commission in Paris last week, Randall Baker, IUB, has been invited by the State Department to make a lecture tour of Spain next year. Over Thanksgiving, Professor Baker will be traveling to Istanbul and Sofia for book-signings.

Ron Hites, IUB, was a plenary speaker at the State of the Lakes meeting in Milwaukee on November 2.

David McSwane, IUPUI, received the W.W. Patty Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (IUB) at a ceremony on Oct. 27. This award is presented annually to graduates of the School of HPER who have demonstrated outstanding personal and professional achievement. Recipients characterize the ideals set forth by Indiana University’s first Dean of the School of HPER, Willard W. Patty. Under his leadership, the School rose to national stature and produced some of the finest professionals in the fields of health, physical education, and recreation.

Lois Wise, IUB, was elected to a three-year term as treasurer of the section on Public Policy and Administration of the International Political Science at the World Congress in Fukuoa, Japan.

Stephen Ziegler, IPFW, has been retained by a major pharmaceutical company to consult on legal and ethical issues in pain management in December.
