Announcements

Burney Fischer, IUB, attended the Indiana Urban Forest Council Annual Meeting at Ft. Harrison State Park on October 12. He will travel to South America, October 23-November 9, as part of a Nature Conservancy Team to review sustainable forestry projects in Brazil, Bolivia, and Chile.

Beth Gazley, IUB, is one of three fulltime faculty members on the Bloomington campus awarded a COPSL Faculty Fellows grant for the 2005-2006 academic year.

Kirsten A. Grønbjerg, IUB, delivered the keynote address on “The Value of Collaboration: Indiana and Bloomington Nonprofits” at the annual meeting of the Nonprofit Alliance for Monroe County on Friday, October 7, at Alumni Hall on the Ivy Tech Campus.

Sheila Suess Kennedy, IUPUI, was on a panel, “Making the Case for a Constitutional Convention,” at the annual Howey Political Forum, sponsored by the Howey Political Report and BoseTreacy Associates. The forum was held October 4 in Indianapolis. On September 10, Sheila was the keynote speaker at the 2005 Indiana conference of PFLAG (Parents, Friends and Families of Lesbians and Gays), also held in Indianapolis.

Les Lenkowsky, IUPUI and IUB, was the keynoter for Leadership Bloomington’s new class. Also, on October 11, he spoke at a meeting of Americans United at Indiana University (student group).

David Reingold, IUB, was appointed by Governor Daniels to the Indiana Commission on Community Service and Volunteerism and elected chair of the commission.

Susan Zinner, IUN, discussed “The Role of Cultural Assumptions about Ethnic Groups by Providers in Assessing the Ability of Minors to Consent” at the “Just Doctoring” conference sponsored by the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, IL, on Friday, October 7.
