V450, Overview on the Music Industry, taught by Monika Herzig, IUB, will stage a Battle of the Bands at Max's Pizza on Monday, November 12, 7:00 p.m. The event is entitled "Best of Both Worlds" and three rock bands and three rap bands will be selected for the battle in order to determine the best in the rock and the best in rap in our region. Local musicians, studio owners, music store owners, and student representatives will be the judges. Band applications can be directed to bestofbothbattle@gmail.com. The students in the class designed the concept of the event and will complete all necessary preparations, band selection, promotions, financial support solicitations, and anything needed to make it a successful evening. All proceeds will go to Dr. Music's Little Band School, a local organization that offers kids from age 4-18 the opportunity to play in bands and receive music instruction.

Thursday, October 25th, SPEA will host a discussion and event for alumni in the Chicago metro area. Clint Oster, IUB, and Ken Richards, IUB, will discuss “The Green Economy: The Future of Climate Change and Carbon Cap and Trade.”

Last week, a chapter of the AmeriCorps Alumni Association was formed at Indiana University. Its organizers are SPEA students.
