Lisa Bingham, IUB, made a series of presentations in
Seoul, Korea:
- On September 22, 2005: “Legal Frameworks for Dispute Resolution
and Civic Engagement in the United States” at a conference entitled
“Comparative Studies in Public Conflict Resolution” organized
by the Korea Development Institute School of Public Policy and Management
and sponsored by the Korea Office for Government Policy Coordination.
- On September 26, 2005: “The New Governance: Practices and Processes
for Stakeholder and Citizen Participation in the Work of Government”
at Yonsei University Department of Public Administration, School of Social
Science.
- On September 26, 2005: “Alternative Dispute Resolution in Civil
Justice in the United States” presented to the Korea Supreme Court
Task Force on Civil Justice Reform. This was a three hour workshop and
lecture providing information regarding the evaluation of different court
ADR programs in the US as the Task Force engages is a comprehensive redesign
of the process for civil litigation in Korea.
- On September 27, 2005: “The New Environmental Governance: Environmental
Conflict Resolution” at the Korea Environmental Institute in the
Environmental Department.
- On September 27, 2005: “Negotiation and Dispute Resolution in
the US” at Yonsei University Law Department.
- On September 28, 2005: “Negotiation and Dispute Resolution in
the US” at the SKK School of Business.
- On September 28, 2005: “Handling Conflicts at Work Through Dispute
Resolution” and “Mediation at Work: REDRESS at the USPS”
at the Korea National Labor Relations Commission.
On October 1, 2005 she will present: “The New Urban Governance: Processes
for Engaging Citizens and Stakeholders” at the Seoul World Mayors
Forum, a celebration of the completed restoration of the Cheong gye cheon,
a river previously buried beneath major thoroughfares in Seoul.
In addition, Beth Gazley, IUB, and Law and Social Science
doctoral student Won Kyung Chang recently presented Gazley, Chang, and Bingham,
“Collaboration and Citizen Participation in Community Mediation Centers”
at the American Political Science Association conference in Washington,
DC.
Otis Grant, IUSB, presented “Hey I Live Here! Allowing
Community Members to Describe Their Own Community” at the Justice
Studies Association annual conference in Hartford, Connecticut on June 4.
