Robert Agranoff, IUB Emeritus, presented a paper, "Exploring the Dimensions of Power in Public Management Networks," at the American Political Science Association Annual Meeting, Philadelphia, PA on August 30 - September 3. Chris Craft, IUB, presented a paper entitled “Ecosystem development of a newly emerged tidal marsh: a model for evaluating ‘success’ of created and restored marshes” at the joint meeting of the Society of Wetland Scientists and the Australian Marine Sciences Association, July 9-14, Cairns, Australia. Kirsten Grønbjerg, IUB, gave a keynote address on “The Status of Indiana Faith-Based Organizations” at “A Challenge to Excellence for the Indiana Faith and Community Organizations,” a conference organized by the Indiana Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, Indiana Government Center on September 27. Sheila Kennedy, IUPUI, was the presenter at a "Constitution Cafe" (one of the events comprising the "My Daily Constitution" celebration in Indianapolis this week) on September 22. The topic was "Whose First Amendment? Media Consolidation and the Marketplace of Ideas." Jamie Palmer, IUPUI, participated in a panel discussion, “Extra-territorial Planning Jurisdiction,” hosted by the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County on September 21 in Crawfordsville and also participated in a conference panel, “Local Government Reorganization,” at the Association of Indiana Counties Conference on September 20 in South Bend. Ms. Palmer presented ongoing research on the use of interlocal agreements in Indiana being conducted for the Indiana Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations. Jim Perry, IUPUI, delivered a paper, "Democracy and the New Public Service," at the European Group of Public Administration annual conference in Milan, Italy, on September 7. He also was discussant for a panel on public service motivation. Jim is presently senior postdoctoral fellow at Katholieke Universitiet Leuven, Public Management Institute. He will be spending the fall and winter at KU Leuven. Flynn Picardal, IUB, and Eric Roden (Univ. Wisconsin) organized and hosted a symposium, “Microbially Mediated Redox Dynamincs in the Shallow Subsurface” at the National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Francisco, CA, September 10-14, 2006. | ||||||
