Presentations


Flynn Picardal, IUB, was a co-author of two research presentations at the 107th Annual General Meeting of the American Society for Microbiology, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, May 21-25, 2007. Former SPEA PhD student, Aaron Coby, presented “Microbially-mediated anaerobic redox cycling of iron in culture and resulting microbial community” with an additional co-author, Eric Roden, from the University of Wisconsin. Current IU Geology PhD student, Dariusz Strapoc, presented, “Speciation of the coalbed methane-producing microbial community in Illinois Basin”, with additional co-authors from Penn State (Irene Schaperdoth, Jennifer Macalady, and Courtney Turich) and IU (Maria Mastalerz and Arndt Schimmelmann).

George Candler, IUSB, gave the closing keynote speech at the 6th Conference of Students of Public Administration in Brazil. "Administração Pública no Mundo Globalizado." VI Encontro de Estudantes de Administração Publica, Florianopolis (“Public administration in a globalizing world”), Santa Catarina, Brazil, July 8, 2007.

Burney Fischer, IUB, presented "An Analysis of the 2006-07 Bloomington Street Tree Inventory – 1st Presentation." to the Bloomington Tree Commission on August 15, 2007. This is the result of an urban forestry internships grants with the City.

Beth Gazley, IUB, participated on a faculty panel at the 4th Annual Summer Institute on Service-Learning and Community-Based Research, held May 7 at IUB. Beth also presented a paper entitled "The Organizational Impacts of Service-Learning" with Laura Littlepage (IUPUI) at the Second International Symposium on Service-Learning, hosted by the University of Indianapolis, May 15, 2007.

Kirsten A. Grønbjerg, IUB, made the following presentations:

Kerry Krutilla, IUB, presented “Using the Kaldor-Hicks Tabeau Format For Cost-Benefit Analysis and Stakeholder Evaluation” at the 2007 Conference on Benefit-Cost Analysis, May 18-19, 2007, University of Seattle, Washington. Kerry also presented a piece he coauthored with David H. Good, IUB, and Kyoungsun Heo, entitled “Evaluating Performance Mechanisms for Voluntary Carbon Emissions Control: An Assessment of the Climate Challenge Program” at the 15th Annual Conference of the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) on June 27-30, 2007, University of Macedonia Thessaloniki, Greece.
